Chumhill Trackbed Walk

Following a successful shareholders’ meeting at Goodleigh, EA supporters and L&BR Trust members walked part of the newly-acquired L&B trackbed near Chumhill. Despite the recent poor weather, the afternoon turned out bright and sunny, and the views were spectacular, as shown in these images.

As can be seen above, the previous owner has cleared several of the trees from the trackbed, and will continue to clear the rest as time allows, benefitting him with a supply of timber, and the railway with a cleared route.

  1. Do you think that this is very likely to be the largest group of people gathered together on this stretch of trackbed, since the ‘Last Train’ passed this way in 1935?
