Do you know of any surplus concrete fence posts? If so we would like to hear from you…
In 2004, Exmoor Associates secured a large quantity of former Southern Railway concrete fence posts from the Exeter-Barnstaple ‘Tarka Line’ at Chapleton (as in the photo above taken at Collard Bridge). These later went on to be used by the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway on the Killington Lane extension.
We remain on the look out for more fence posts, as we have some sections of trackbed on our land that we would like to see fenced, to protect the formation from livestock.
With the potential need to put fencing alongside parts of the formation, we would like to do the job properly. By using the ‘correct’ posts we can make a more permanent job of it, it will reduce maintenance and subsequent costs, it will look better from a heritage perspective, and will reduce the potential of duplication of effort.
We are interested in SR or LSWR posts, or posts of close/similar design such as those used by highways etc. We are not interested in spalling posts, only those that remain in usable condition.
If you have any information, please get in touch.

There are a sizeable amount of posts near Braunton.
Thanks Andy, we’re in touch with the owner of these.
